Keeneland Stays Connected Through Social Media, Advanced Technology


LEXINGTON, KY (Oct. 4, 2012) – Keeneland is an industry leader in employing social media and advanced technology to interact with its fan base, attract new fans and deliver the latest news and handicapping information directly to its customers.

Keeneland has expanded its social media presence to enhance the fan experience during its fall race meet, to be run October 5-27.


The track opens with its signature Fall Stars Weekend of stakes racing that spotlights many of the nation’s best horses who are prepping for the Breeders’ Cup World Championships, to be run November 2-3 at Santa Anita. This fall, Keeneland will carry the Fall Stars theme beyond opening weekend, celebrating a different Fall Stars experience each week. Fans are encouraged to use the #fallstars hashtag to stay on top of all the action.

Keeneland also will offer two Fall Stars fan contests this fall – a #fallstars Instagram Contest and a Fan of the Week Contest.

To enter the Instagram Contest, simply take a photo that you feel captures the essence of Keeneland, post to your public Instagram account, and tag with #fallstars to enter.

Fans can nominate a “Fall Star” – someone whose love of Keeneland runs deep – as “Fan of the Week” each week at http://www.keeneland.com/fan-of-the-week. Keeneland will share the weekly winner’s story on Facebook and award him or her with a gift basket. One grand prize winner will be selected to receive a table for four to the 2013 Toyota Blue Grass Stakes (G1). The person who nominates a winner will also earn a Keeneland gift.

On track, fans are encouraged to check out the social media display at Wagering Central, located on the first floor grandstand, for the @keenelandracing Twitter feed and Instagram contest photos.
As a thank you for being a fan, Keeneland will offer Track Packs on Wednesdays and Thursdays during the meet. Simply print the Track Pack coupon posted on Keeneland.com and bring it to any of the track’s admission gates for free general admission. For just $10, fans can purchase a reserved grandstand seat and race day program, and receive a Keeneland hat – a value of $28.
Keeneland fans can turn to several resources this fall for help with handicapping and wagering questions, expert selections and statistical information.

Jeremy Plonk and Joe Kristufek will once again host live chats on Keeneland.com each race day, giving selections and answering questions. Keeneland.com also offers a wealth of free handicapping information that will appeal to novice and experienced fans alike. Fans on Twitter can get real-time selections with @keenelandracing.

On track, Wagering Central staff can answer basic betting questions, provide free daily selections, and register fans for Keeneland’s FastBet card or a Keeneland Select account.

Also new for the fall meet, mobile wagering clerks will be available on Fridays and Saturdays in the tailgating and Louisville parking lots.
