13 ARLINGTON-RACED HORSES ~ BREEDERS’ CUP PRE-ENTERED HORSES
LITTLE MIKE AND I’M A DREAMER TOP LIST OF 13 ARLINGTON-RACED HORSES ON LIST OF BREEDERS’ CUP PRE-ENTERED HORSES
ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. (Oct. 24, 2011) – Led by Breeders’ Cup Challenge winners Little Mike and I’m A Dreamer, a total of 13 horses who have raced at Arlington Park were among the 180 horses pre-entered for this year's event to be run at Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, Calif. on Friday, Nov. 2 and Saturday, Nov. 3. Of the 13 Arlington-raced horses, two were stakes winners here this year, eight started here but did not win a stakes race here in 2012 and the remaining three raced here in previous seasons.
Joining I’m A Dreamer in the Filly & Mare Turf are Beverly D. runner-up Marketing Mix and sixth-place finisher Up.
In addition to Little Mike, two other Million starters have been pre-entered for the Breeders’ Cup. Willcox Inn, who won an allowance race here this year as well as two-thirds of the 2011 Mid-America Triple over the Arlington Turf, has been pre-entered in the Mile while Treasure Beach, the 2011 Grade I Secretariat Stakes winner who finished sixth in this year’s Million, has been pre-entered in the Turf.
Pool Play, third in Grade III Washington Park Handicap; and Handsome Mike, fourth in the Secretariat, have been pre-entered for the Grade I $5 million Breeders’ Cup Classic. Handsome Mike has also been pre-entered in the $1 million Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile.
The remaining two 2012 Arlington starters pre-entered for the Breeders’ Cup are 2-year-olds pointing to the Grade I $1 million Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf - Brown Almighty and Under Review, each of whom broke their maidens here.
Three horses who started here in the past are also among the pre-entries for this year’s Championships – Animal Kingdom (Mile), the 2011 Kentucky Derby winner who started his career at Arlington as a 2-year-old in 2010; Fort Larned (Classic), eighth in the 2011 Arlington Classic; and Eldaafer (Grade II $500,000 Breeders’ Cup Marathon), the 2010 Marathon winner who ran fourth in the 2009 edition of the Washington Park Handicap.
