Due to the impact on horsemen and horses in the Northeast, Tampa Bay Downs has elected to open the barn area on Monday Nov 5th, 2012 at 8:00am.

“A number of our horsemen are effected at Monmonth Park and Delaware Park; to ease the burden of flood waters and lack of electricity we elected to open early to try and accommodate as many horsemen as possible,” said Peter Berube, Vice President and General Manager of Tampa Bay Downs.

Tampa Bay Downs is strictly enforcing health certificate guidelines due to the recent outbreak of Equine Herpes at Hawthorne, please note below -

The Grounds of Tampa Bay Downs

Dated October 31, 2012 - Until Further Notice

All horses shipping onto the grounds of Tampa Bay Downs, Inc. to stable or train must provide a Certificate of Veterinary Inspection dated within the 72 hours of arrival with a rectal temperature and an acknowledgement that each horse has been vaccinated against Equine Herpes Type 1 (EHV-1) between 14 and 120 days of arrival plus following statement signed and dated by the licensed attending veterinarian.
“Horse or horses represented on this Certificate of Veterinary Inspection have not originated from, nor been stabled on, a premise which has had Herpes Virus (EHV-1) diagnosed during the previous 30 days.”
In addition there will be no horses admitted into the barn area for stabling or training from Hawthorne Race Course, until further notice due to the recent outbreaks of the Herpes Virus.
