ALBANY -- Apprentice jockey Ronald Richard earned his first Golden Gate Fields victory Sunday when he captured the fourth race with 11-to-1 outsider Thats Vista’s Girl ($25.80).

Thats Vista’s Girl was the 14th local mount for Richard, who arrived in the Bay Area last month after competing at Parx Racing (formerly Philadelphia Park), where he had three victories from 50 mounts.

Richard, an 18-year-old native of Lafayette, Louisiana, rode his first winner at Sam Houston Race Park in Texas last year and collected his 13th career victory with Thats Vista’s Girl.

Thats Vista’s Girl responded to strong urging from Richard to hold off Campeenya down the stretch for a 1 3/4-length victory in the 1 1/16-mile turf race for maiden fillies and mares. A 3-year-old filly trained by Genaro Vallejo, Thats Vista’s Girl broke her maiden in her fourth career start.

Richard had only one other mount Sunday – Turbulent Creek, who finished third in the sixth race.

Jockey Juan Hernandez recorded a “natural” riding hat trick Sunday, sweeping the final three races on the card. Hernandez won the seventh race with Oh Molly Brannigan ($22.20), the eighth with Jule’s Gold ($11.00), and the ninth with Lite N Lily ($4.20).

Racing resumes at Golden Gate Fields Thursday. Post time is 12:45 p.m.
