Baltimore Native Wins Her First Race

BALTIMORE, MD. 5-1-09---Apprentice Jennifer Jennings notched her first lifetime win in today’s sixth race at Pimlico when her mount led from start to finish.

PTK LLC’s Plagiarize outkicked $5,000 claimers straight from the gate and Jennings spent most of her winning ride looking back for competition. The Allen’s Prospect offspring won by 7-1/2 lengths and paid $9.20.

Trainer Dane Kobiskie gave a leg up to the Baltimore-born rider. “I went to McDonough (High School in Baltimore County),” said Jennings. “I’ve been working for Dane Kobiskie at Bowie recently, but for the past two years, I’ve been working for Steve Asmussen in Kentucky and at the Fair Grounds.

“My dad is sixty today and they’re out here to see this,” Jennings added, just before being ambushed by a half-dozen of the Pimlico jockeys who drenched her with water and splattered her with eggs, all in good fun meant for the newest member of the riding colony.
