Be A Hero For Just One Day - Support LongRun Day at Woodbine
TORONTO, September 18 - This year's LongRun Day at Woodbine, slated for Saturday, will include an autograph session and photo opportunity with three Queen's Plate-winning members of the Woodbine riding colony.
LongRun Thoroughbred Retirement Society, whose adoption and placement programs help find homes for thoroughbreds in Ontario, will offer a little bit of everything for racing fans on September 20.
The event starts at noon on the second floor.
Customers that donate $5 to help feed a horse for a day will receive a free t-shirt. For another $5, fans can get their picture taken with jockeys Robert Landry, Emma-Jayne Wilson, Jono Jones and the fabled Queen's Plate trophy.
Landry won the Plate with Niigon in 2004, Wilson teamed with Mike Fox in 2007 and Jones partnered Not Bourbon to victory this year.
Three LongRun horses, Mr. Epperson, Shaws Creek and Red Sea, will parade on the E.P. Taylor Turf Course after the second, third and fourth race, respectively.
There will also be a silent auction. Items include a halter worn by 2004 Breeders' Cup Turf champion, Better Talk Now and two tickets to watch the Toronto Maple Leafs and Ottawa Senators at the Air Canada Centre.
