Commercial Bank of Dubai sponsors new year’s day racing at Nad Al Sheba

The penultimate Winter Racing Challenge meeting kicks off this Thursday January 1st 2009, the perfect start to the new year.

Sponsored by the Commercial Bank of Dubai, the highly competitive card will be a six race affair, showcasing the Winter Racing Challenge Final Sprint, Mile and Long races

Dubai Racing Club CEO Frank Gabriel Jr said: “The aim of the Winter Racing Challenge finals was to give horses a target to aim for right from the start of the season.

“Following the success of the WRC last year, horsemen have really taken to the initiative, as seen by the likes of Ali Rashid Al Raihe and Mubarak bin Shafya, who have both made a distinct impression for the first part of the season.

“The three finals have attracted some of the best local stars, and is complemented by some strong supporting races.

“We look forward to what will be the most exciting race meeting yet, and are pleased to have Commercial Bank of Dubai, a long-standing and valued partner, here with us on this occasion”.

Mr Yaqoob Yousuf Hassan, Deputy Chief Executive of Commercial Bank of Dubai said, “We, at Commercial Bank of Dubai, are delighted to sponsor the Winter Horse Racing Challenge at Nad Al Sheba Race Track for the 3rd consecutive year.

“We are proud of our commitment to this participation which is a part of CBD’s social responsibility towards the restoration of our ancestor’s heritage and contribution to sports and youth activities in the UAE.

“On behalf of the bank, I would like to take this opportunity to thank Mr. Saeed Al Tayer, Chairman of the Dubai Racing Club and the organizing committee for welcoming us to partner them.

“We wish Dubai International Racing Carnival success and hope the race fans and families enjoy this season at Nad Al Sheba Racecourse which will conclude with the Dubai World Cup in March 2009.”
