Record Single-Day Rainbow 6 Handle Generates Multiple $14,592 Payoffs

$5.6 Million Bet into $1.4 Million Carryover
Sunday Super Hi 5 Carryover $20,365.16

HALLANDALE BEACH, FL - Gulfstream Park's mandatory payout of its 20-cent Rainbow 6 resulted in a total pool of $7.125 million Saturday, producing multiple-winning tickets each returning $14,504.92.

Bettors wagered a record $5,672,198 into Saturday's Rainbow 6 with a $1.4 million carryover.

The previous record for money wagered into the Rainbow 6 was $3.5 million in 2011 with a $1.4 million carryover.

The Rainbow 6 got off to an exciting start with 27-1 longshot One Proud Dude winning the first leg of the Rainbow 6 and returning $56.20. Favored Cordero won the second leg ($3.80) and favored Majestic Breeze the third ($4.20). The $100,000 Miami Mile (G3) was won by 21-1 longshot Rerun ($44) while the $75,000 Powder Break was taken by 6-5 favorite Baffle Me ($4.60). The final leg of the Rainbow 6 was taken by Be a Bull ($15.20).

The winning numbers were 1-7-8-3-9-4.

The Rainbow 6 carryover jackpot is paid out only when there is a single unique ticket sold with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket, 70 percent of that day’s pool goes back to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners, while 30 percent is carried over to the jackpot pool. Yet, on a mandatory-payout day, the entire pool must be paid out to those bettors with tickets sporting the most winners in the six-race sequence.

The Rainbow 6 jackpot was last hit on March 18, when a unique ticket returned $210,973.74. Six days earlier, a winning Rainbow 6 ticket bet through the Portland, Ore. wagering hub returned a jackpot payoff of $1,079,444.22.

While there will be no carryover in Sunday's Rainbow 6, there will be a Super High 5 carryover of $20,365.16.
