CORDERO, DAY, PINCAY COME TO BELMONT ON BC LEGENDS TOUR

Legendary Hall of Fame jockeys Angel Cordero Jr., Pat Day and Laffit Pincay Jr. will be at Belmont Park on Thursday, October 2, as the Breeders’ Cup Legends Tour makes the second stop on its multi-city tour.

The three riders were first, second and third in the inaugural Breeders’ Cup Classic at Hollywood Park in 1984, with Day and Wild Again winning in a tight three-horse photo finish over Pincay’s mount, Gate Dancer, and Cordero on Slew o’Gold.

A three-time Eclipse Award winner, Cordero won four Breeders’ Cup races, three Kentucky Derbys, two Preakness Stakes, one Belmont Stakes and was leading rider at Saratoga 13 times.

A three-time Belmont Stakes winner, Pincay won seven Breeders’ Cup races, was leading jockey by earnings four times and earned four Eclipse Awards. Pat Day, winner of four Eclipse Awards and five times the leading jockey by earnings, won 12 Breeders’ Cup races and is still the leading money winning jockey in Breeders’ Cup history with $23,033,360.

The three riders will meet and greet the fans at an autograph session from noon to 1:30 p.m. in the Belmont Park grandstand colonnade. Accompanying the Legends will be a 20-foot photographic exhibit highlighting memorable moments in Breeders’ Cup history.

The Breeders’ Cup Legends Tour is bringing these three jockeys to racetracks across the country and other locations including the Sports Museum of America in New York City to sign autographs and meet with fans and media.

The Tour began today in Boston and will conclude in Los Angeles on October 18 when Day and Cordero will ride in the Living Legends Race at Santa Anita, a race featuring eight retired Hall of Fame jockeys. Also competing are Jerry Bailey, Sandy Hawley, Julie Krone, Chris McCarron, Gary Stevens and Jacinto Vasquez.

Fans can also enter the Breeders’ Cup 25 Sweepstakes through October 5 for a chance to win a trip for two to the Breeders’ Cup World Championships and watch the races with these legends at http://www.breederscup.com.
