DANCIN CANDY DANCES TO ANOTHER WIN ON TAPETA
ALBANY -- Dancin Candy high stepped his way to another victory on Golden Gate Fields' synthetic Tapeta racing surface Thursday.
Golden Gate Fields installed the Tapeta track in the summer of 2007, much to the delight of Dancin Candy, who has enjoyed great success on the surface. In nine starts on Tapeta, Dancin Candy has recorded four wins and two seconds.
Dancin Candy rallied from off the pace to win Thursday's featured fourth race, a 1 1/16-mile contest for 3-year-olds and up, by three-quarters of a length over even-money favorite Choctaw Chief. Suffolk Punch finished third.
McLean is enjoying a fine campaign at the 2008 Golden Gate Fields fall meeting. The popular trainer, who hails from Vancouver, B.C., Canada, has amassed seven wins, a second and three thirds from 22 starters at the meeting. Known around the racetrack as "The Mate," McLean is winning races at an impressive 31.8 percent clip.
Racing continues at Golden Gate Fields Friday. Post time is 12:45 p.m.
