DELPARK STAKE ADVANCE - DELAWARE CERTIFIED


September 23, 2008, Wilmington, DE-Thoroughbreds raised or trained in Delaware will take center stage Saturday at Delaware Park with the presentation of four $75,000 restricted stake races for Delaware Certified Thoroughbreds.

The Delaware Certified Distaff, the Small Wonder, the First State Dash, and the Delaware Certified highlight the eleven race card, with a first race post time of 12:45 p.m.


The races highlight the Delaware Certified Thoroughbred program, which was started in 2002 by the Delaware Thoroughbred Horsemen Association to encourage the development of Delaware's horse farms and training facilities. To be certified through the program, a thoroughbred must spend a minimum of 90 consecutive days on a Delaware farm or training facility prior to March 31 of its 2-year-old year and races at Delaware Park. A total of 70 Delaware farms and training facilities are participating in the program.

Hungarian Boatbaby tops Delaware Certified Distaff Stakes

The Elkstone Group's Hungarian Boatbaby tops a field of six entered in the six furlong $75,000 Delaware Certified Distaff Stakes. The Distaff has been carded as the third race with an approximate post time of 1:39 p.m.

In her last outing, Hungarian Boatbaby ran third beaten 2-lengths in the six furlong $200,000 Endine Stakes at Delaware Park on September 6. Previously, the 4-year-old daughter of Silver Ghost won the six furlong $100,000 Regret Stakes at Monmouth Park on August 3. This year, the Kentucky-bred trained by Anthony Dutrow has compiled a record of three wins and a third from five outings including a win in the six furlong $60,000 Primonetta Stakes at Laurel Park in the spring. Her lifetime record is six wins and two thirds from 11 outings with earnings of $254,505. At Delaware Park, she sports a record of three wins and two thirds from six outings.
