EARLY POST TIME THANKSGIVING DAY, FORTY NINER STAKES FRIDAY

ALBANY -- A holiday week of racing at Golden Gate Fields features Pick Six carryovers on Wednesday, an early post time on Thanksgiving Day, the $75,000 Forty Niner Stakes on Friday, and $1 specials on Sunday.

Post time Wednesday is 12:45 p.m. and there is a carryover of $14,823 in the Golden Gate Fields Pick Six, which will be held on races three through eight. Fans can also play, via simulcast wagering, the Pick Six at Hollywood Park, where there is a carryover $128,073. Hollywood Park's Pick Six will also be held on races three through eight.

Golden Gate Fields will open all gates at 9:30 a.m. Thursday for its Thanksgiving Day card, which will begin at 11:15 a.m. The early post time means the eight-race program should be concluded by 2:50 p.m., giving fans plenty of time to get home for their Thanksgiving feast.

Golden Gate Fields will present a nine-race program Friday. Post time is 12:45 p.m. and the main event is the Forty Niner Stakes, a 1 1/16-mile contest for 3-year-olds and up. Post time for the Forty Niner, the eighth race on the card, is 4:15 p.m.

Monterey Jazz, who earlier this year posted wire-to-wire victories in the Grade 2 Strub Stakes at Santa Anita and the Grade 3 Texas Mile at Lone Star Park, heads a field of seven in the Forty Niner. Trained by Craig Dollase, Monterey Jazz hasn't raced since his eight-length triumph in the Texas Mile on April 26.

Owned by A & R Stables LLC and Class Racing Stable, Monterey Jazz is a 4-year-old colt who has won six of his 13 career starts and $532,740. Dollase has named jockey Alex Bisono to ride his colt in the Forty Niner.

Monterey Jazz will face the following opponents in the Forty Niner: Pass the Heat, Holy Thunder, Racketeer, Gallon, Running Rich and Dakota Pirate.

Post time Saturday and Sunday is 12:45 p.m. Sunday, Golden Gate Fields will offer fans $1 general parking, $1 general admission, $1 programs, $1 hot dogs, $1 beers, $1 sodas and the NFL Sunday Ticket.
