ENTRIES OUT FOR FESTIVAL PREVIEW DAY PRESENTED BY LAMBHOLM SOUTH

OLDSMAR, Fla. (February 12, 2009) Tampa Bay Downs’s Festival Preview Day Presented by Lambholm South has produced three full stakes fields for the premiere day of racing in February at the Oldsmar oval. The Grade III $225,000 Sam F. Davis Stakes has garnered eleven entries, the Grade III $125,000 Endeavour Stakes has attracted thirteen fillies and mares, and the $75,000 Suncoast Stakes will have a large field of nine three-year-old fillies.

The Sam F. Davis Stakes has drawn such up-and-coming three-year-old Kentucky Derby hopefuls as morning line favorite Free County, who comes into the Sam F. Davis off of an impressive victory in an allowance race at Gulfstream Park on January 8 for owner Silver Wing Stable, et al. and trainer Kenneth McPeek. Jockey Kent Desormeaux has the call to ride the Kentucky-bred son of Big County.

Also entered in the Sam F. Davis Stakes is Atomic Rain, a trainee of Kelly Breen from the stable of George and Lori Hall. Atomic Rain was runner-up in the Grade II Remsen Stakes in November and was the second by a neck to Free Country in both colts’ last outing. Post time for the Grade III Sam F. Davis Stakes is 4:47 PM.

The Grade III $125,000 Endeavour Stakes has attracted 13 top older fillies and mares; among them is Ginger Brew, a career earner of $776,277 who counts among her victories multiple stakes wins for owner Stronach Stables and trainer Brain Lynch. Also entered in the Endeavour is American Border, a five-year-old Boundary mare. American Border is a graded stakes winner of $272,370, is owned by Mr. Amore Stables, conditioned by Jason Servis and will have the services of leading Tampa rider Daniel Centeno. Post time for the Grade III Endeavour Stakes is 4:17 PM.

The $75,000 Suncoast Stakes includes in its participants Rock Candy, a three-year-old Mineshaft filly who captured the $65,000 Gasparilla Stakes here in her last start. Rock Candy is a homebred of the partnership of William Farish and Mrs. William Kilroy and is trained by Michael Zwiesler. Also running in the Suncoast is Don’t Forget Gil; the daughter of Kafwain has earned $91,867 and has never finished out of the money in her four lifetime starts. The Mark Hennig trainee captured Aqueduct’s East View Stakes two races back and was third in the Busanda Stakes in her last start. Post time for the Suncoast Stakes is approximately 3:47 PM.

Complimenting the Festival Preview Day Presented by Lambholm South program this year is Taste of the Bay, in which local restaurants showcase their signature dishes from 11 AM – 4 PM on the Grandstand apron. Additionally, Tampa Bay Downs and Lambholm South are teaming up for a T-shirt giveaway, free with the first 5,000 paid admissions while supplies last.

Racing resumes tomorrow, February 13 with a ten race card. The Silks Poker Room is open daily from 12:30 PM through 12:30 AM, and The Downs Golf Practice Facility is open on Mondays from 10:00 AM through 10:00 PM and on Tuesdays through Sundays from 8:30 AM through 10:00 PM.
