A roving photographer will be in search of fabulously attired females at Saratoga Race Course from noon to 2 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Those who choose to participate in the Best Turned Out Filly contest will have their picture taken and be entered to win two tickets to the Saratoga Wine & Food and Fall Ferrari Festival’s Grand Tasting on September 10 at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center. The winner will also have the opportunity to participate in a trophy presentation for one of the races that weekend.
Fasig-Tipton will also present a $500 cash award to the groom of the Best Turned Out Horse from Saturday’s Test or Sunday’s Honorable Miss. The winners will be chosen in the paddock prior to each race by a Fasig-Tipton representative.
Families will also have the chance to participate in the Festival of Racing with the Fasig-Tipton Graduate Trail Scavenger Hunt, which is free to enter and will be conducted during the races. Maps and entry forms will be available in the Post Parade program and at the Clubhouse or Grandstand Customer Service Desk. Completed maps must be submitted by Race 5, with NYRA to determine the winners from a drawing of correctly completed entries.
“We are proud to present the Festival of Racing for a third consecutive year,” said Fasig-Tipton President and CEO Boyd Browning. “Fasig-Tipton and Saratoga Race Course are cornerstones of thoroughbred racing, making this a perfect partnership. We look forward to the promotions and exciting racing that will be featured during the Festival.”
The Festival of Racing is part of the lead up to Fasig-Tipton’s pair of yearling auctions at the Humphrey S. Finney Pavilion in Saratoga Springs. This year’s Saratoga Select Yearling sale will be held August 8-9, with the NY Bred Yearlings sale to be conducted August 13-14.
On August 13, the Humphrey S. Finney Pavilion will also host The New New York Forum: Racing and Breeding in the VLT Era, a free seminar presented by Fasig-Tipton, The New York Racing Association, Inc. (NYRA), and the New York Thoroughbred Breeders (NYTB).
Guest speakers at the The New New York Forum: Racing and Breeding in the VLT Era will include NYRA President and CEO Charles Hayward, Fasig-Tipton Director of Marketing Terence Collier, Resorts World New York Casino President Michael Speller, NYTB Executive Director Jeffrey Cannizzo, and trainer/New York Thoroughbred Horsemen’s Association (NYTHA) President Richard Violette, Jr.
The NYTB will provide a complimentary breakfast prior to the panel discussion, which will run from 9-10 a.m. followed by a Q&A session with the attendees. Those who wish to attend the seminar are encouraged to register in advance through the NYTB.
“The New New York Forum: Racing and Breeding in the VLT Era will be a great event for industry participants and fans alike to hear what the future of New York Breeding and Racing will look like directly from Genting, NYRA, Fasig-Tipton and NYTB,” said Cannizzo.
