FINAL WEEK OF GGF FALL MEETING BEGINS WEDNESDAY WITH PICK SIX CARRYOVER


ALBANY -- The final week of racing at Golden Gate Fields' fall meeting gets underway Wednesday with an eight-race card that features a Pick Six carryover of $17,237.

Post time Wednesday through Sunday, closing day, is 12:45 p.m.

Wednesday's Pick Six, a wager which challenges handicappers to select the winners of six consecutive races, will be held on races three through eight. Post time for the third race is 1:45 p.m.


The $75,000 Gold Rush Stakes, a one-mile race for 2-year-olds and the final stakes race of the meeting, will be run Saturday. Eighteen juveniles are nominated to the Gold Rush and entries will be taken Wednesday.

The following runners are confirmed for the Gold Rush: A K Racer, Adriatic Moon, Blazing Dan, Clare's Top Choice, Run It, and Skimasco. Backbackbackgone, Billionaire Bob, Free Action and Merus Miami are among the horses listed as possible starters.

Fans attending Sunday's finale will be treated to $1 parking, $1 general admission, $1 programs, $1 beers, $1 hot dogs and $1 sodas. Golden Gate Fields will also broadcast all the football games via the NFL Sunday Ticket.

There will be a four-day break for the Christmas holiday following Sunday's program. Golden Gate Fields will open its 2008-2009 winter/spring meeting on Friday Dec. 26.
