Five declared to battle in final round of Arabian triple crown
Sunday’s fourteenth and penultimate meeting of the season at Abu Dhabi, kindly sponsored by Abu Dhabi Equestrian Club, features the third and concluding round of the Arabian Triple Crown.
Five have been declared for the Group 3 2400m feature with Rod Simpson duo Jazeerat Alsadyaat and Elmalak Elwaheed, first and second in the middle round over 2200m, again taking each other on.
Simpson is hopeful: “The trip should not be a problem as both were staying on last time and, at the weights, the filly should certainly get closer. There should be little between them.”
Fourth on that occasion was Ibn Abeya who had won the UAE Derby the previous week – from Jazeerat Alsadyaat, while Saifaldin Deeb’s Meshwar was third in the opening round.
There is a cracking 1300m Thoroughbred handicap on the card with a host of Dubai International Racing Carnival horses on show and Erwan Charpy saddles five of the 12 runners.
Tadhg O’Shea rides Tawaash, while Richard Hills’s mount, Taqseem, trained by Musabah Al Muhairi, should not be far away.
Doug Watson’s pair of New Jersey and Daybreak Dancer are others to consider.
