Five Gold Rings Brings $105,000 on Wednesday at Keeneland

LEXINGTON, KY (Nov. 16, 2011) – Five Gold Rings, a six-year-old mare by Touch Gold, sold in foal to Indygo Shiner, brought top bid of $105,000 on Wednesday at Keeneland’s November Breeding Stock Sale.

Bluewater Sales, as agent for Southern Equine Stables, purchased Five Gold Rings, a half-sister to Illinois Derby (G2) winner Yarrow Brae. She was consigned by Lane’s End, agent.


With one day remaining in the sale, Keeneland has sold 2,397 horses for $207,707,400, an increase of 43.9 percent from last year’s $144,303,000. Average price of $86,653 was up 45.6 percent from $59,506 in 2010. The median of $25,000 rose 13.6 percent from last year’s $22,000.

Keeneland sold 233 horses on Wednesday for gross receipts of $2,122,800, down 14.6 percent over last year when 251 horses brought $2,487,200. Average price dipped 8.05 percent to $9,111 compared to $9,909 in 2010. The median price of $4,500 marked a 25 percent decrease over last year’s $6,000.
