FLORIDA DERBY, DUBAI WORLD CUP SIMULCASTS PLUS NINE LOCALS RACES AT GGF SATURDAY

ALBANY -- Golden Gate Fields will present a nine-race card Saturday and also offer fans two major races via simulcast – the $10 million Dubai World Cup and the $1 million Florida Derby.

Gates open at 10 a.m., 40 minutes prior to the scheduled post time for the Dubai World Cup, a 1 1/4-mile event at Meydan Race Course in the United Arab Emirates. The star-studded international field includes the American runners Game On Dude (3-to-1 on the morning line) and Royal Delta (8-to-1).

Post time for the Grade 1 Florida Derby, a 1 1/8-mile Kentucky Derby prep run at Gulfstream Park, is 2:40 p.m. The Florida Derby field is headed by Union Rags, a winner of four of his five races and the current favorite to win the Run For The Roses.

The 6-to-5 morning-line favorite in the Florida Derby, Union Rags opened up his 3-year-old season with a four-length victory in the Fountain of Youth Stakes at Gulfstream Park on Feb. 26.

The Golden Gate Fields card is highlighted by a pair of salty six-furlong allowance races and they will be run back-to-back as the seventh and eighth races on the program.

Ten evenly-matched sprinters will meet in the seventh race, which has a purse of $30,000. The 3-to-1 morning line favorite is He’s So Sylish, who opened up his 2012 campaign with a front-running victory on March 9 at Golden Gate Fields.

The eighth race carries a purse of $32,500 and features a field of seven hard-hitting older horses. The 5-to-2 morning line choice is Quick Enough, an 8-year-old gelding who has 11 wins in 32 career starts and $509,963 in earnings.

Baze Wins Four Races -- Leading jockey Russell Baze won four of the seven races contested at Golden Gate Fields Friday. Baze scored with No Tricks for Jack ($6.00) in the third race, Lamurrelle ($4.40) in the fifth, Finish Rich in Nyc ($3.60) in the sixth, and Angi’s Wild Cat ($6.00) in the seventh.
