Game Face Rolls to Inside Information Victory
Zabeel Racing International’s 4-year-old filly Game Face won the rubber match of a graded-stakes trilogy at Gulfstream Park Sunday, beating Joseph V. Shields Jr.’s 6-year-old mare Any Limit by 2½ lengths in the $150,000 Inside Information Stakes (G2).
Any Limit, who won the Hurricane Bertie Stakes (G3) with Game Face second when they met in mid-February, set the pace in the seven-furlong Inside Information while dueling with Gary and Mary West’s 4-year-old filly Keep the Peace to mid-stretch until Game Face rolled down the outside to victory under jockey John R. Velazquez for trainer Todd Pletcher.
Winning Jockey Quotes
John Velazquez:
“The pace was definitely a factor today as opposed to last time out. I wanted to stay close and have a shot, that’s all. She kept making up ground, and at the quarter (pole) I noticed she got real comfortable. We went to the outside and once I let go and asked her, this time she was ready to fight all the other horses down the lane.”
Winning Trainer Quote
Anthony Sciametta (Assistant to Todd Pletcher):
“She gives a hundred percent every time. Last time she got caught down on the inside and finished second. Today she drew outside and had a better trip.”
(Note: Pletcher was attending the OBS 2-year-old sales Sunday.)
