OLDSMAR, Fla. (January 6, 2009) Trainers Gerald Bennett and Vicki Oliver each escorted two of their trainees to the Winner’s Circle today. Bennett’s first victory of the day came with Real Conquest. Luis Antonio Gonzalez rode the four-year-old daughter of Full Mandate, who was bred in Florida by Barry Ostrager and Steven Mukamal and is owned by Robert Killian. Bennett and Gonzalez hooked up again to win the eighth race with Right Flanker. The six-year-old Florida-bred Outflanker gelding scored his ninth win from forty-eight lifetime starts for owners Winning Stables and Ray Rech.

Vicki Oliver teamed up with horse owning duo G. Watts Humphrey, Jr. and St. George Farm Racing for her two wins today, both of which came on the Tampa Bay Downs turf. Oliver took home her first win of the day with Direct Line; the three-year-old Tiznow filly won at first asking for her connections with Ron Allen, Jr. in the irons. Oliver, Humphrey and St. George Farm Racing’s next victory came with Lydia’s Smile, a three-year-old daughter of Maria’s Mon who had the services of past leading Tampa jockey Daniel Centeno.

Racing resumes Thursday, January 8 with a ten race card; the High 5 carryover is $3,471.04. The Silks Poker room is open daily from 12:30 PM through 12:30 AM, and The Downs Golf Practice Facility is open on Mondays from 10:00 AM through 10:00 PM and on Tuesdays through Sundays from 8:30 AM through 10:00 PM.
