GOLDEN GATE FIELDS ADDS TWO OVERNIGHT STAKES


ALBANY -- Golden Gate Fields announced Thursday the addition of two overnight events to its stakes schedule - the $50,000 McCann's Mojave on Saturday, Feb. 14, and the $50,000 King Glorious on Saturday, Feb. 28.

The McCann's Mojave, a 1 1/16-mile race for 4-year-olds and up, will be part of the undercard on El Camino Real Derby Day. Nominations for the McCann's Mojave close Saturday, Feb. 7.


The King Glorious is a six-furlong sprint for 3-year-olds and nominations to the race close Saturday, Feb. 21.

SHERMAN, ANTONGEORGI TRIPLE -- Trainer Steve Sherman and jockey William Antongeorgi III teamed up to win three races Thursday at Golden Gate Fields.

Sherman and Antongeorgi won the fifth race with Mother Bronson ($7.80), the featured seventh race with Royal Heraldry ($6.00) and the eighth with Ayelu ($6.60)

Sherman has saddled 16 winners through 19 days of racing at the 2008-2009 winter/spring meeting and is second in the trainer standings. The streaking Sherman has won eight of the last nine races in which he has had an entrant.

Antongeorgi ranks third in the jockey standings with 17 wins.

Racing continues at Golden Gate Fields Friday. Post time is 12:45 p.m.
