Haatheq looks favourite for Listed Jebel Ali Stakes
Derrinstown Stud, the Irish arm of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum's Shadwell organization, are the generous sponsors of Friday's Listed Jebel Ali Stakes.
The AED500,000 1950m race is the first of three Listed races at Jebel Ali over the course of the season. Haatheq looks certain to be a popular Pick Six selection and carries the famous blue and white silks of the sponsor.
He is trained by Ali Rashid Al Raihe, as is Palm Court, the mount of Royston Ffrench. He will appreciate the return to this track but this is a lot tougher than the two races he won earlier in the season.
Emmrooz, trained on the track by Dhruba Selvaratnam, heads the opposition having beaten Haatheq over 1600m here on his last racecourse start.
Kieren Fallon replaces the sidelined William Buick and said: "Dhruba is happy with the horse and condition should suit as he looks likely to appreciate this trip. He should go well."
Noisy Silence was an excellent third in the race last year. Wayne Smith rides for Tony Manuel and the trainer said: "He has been off since January so will need the run but he is as fit as I can get him at home."
Just behind him last year was Eddie Jock, representing the Satish Seemar yard who are having such a great season.
Richard Mullen rides and said: "We were a bit short of room last time and he is better than that. He ran well in this last year and should do so again."
The 2006 winner, Singing Poet, seeks to become the first horse to win the race twice with Willie Supple riding for Erwan Charpy who also won the race last year with Mashaahed and in 2009 with Rampallion.
Last year's Jebel Ali Mile winner Jet Express has Selvaratnam's Otaared to beat in a 1600m conditions race which precedes the feature.
