HORSERACING TV ONSITE AT CALDER FOR SATURDAY’S “SUMMIT OF SPEED”

Calder Race Course's "Summit of Speed" is annually one of the premier racing days on the summer racing calendar, and HorseRacing TV (TM) (HRTV) will provide comprehensive live, onsite coverage for the lucrative $1.3 million stakes schedule from the Miami, FL track this Saturday, July 12.

HRTV analyst Jon White will head to the Sunshine State to anchor HRTV's coverage and he will be stationed at Calder to offer pre- and post-race expert analysis, as well as timely interviews with the connections for the four graded stakes events, which are all carded at six furlongs.

Post time for the Calder card is 12:50 p.m. ET/9:50 a.m. PT.

The "Summit of Speed" normally draws the best sprinters from across North America, and this year's renewal is no exception.

The mercurial Benny the Bull, acknowledged by many as the sport's best sprinter, is one of the day's stars, and his high turn of speed will be featured in the Grade 2, $400,000 Smile Sprint for colts, designed for 3-year-olds and up. Owned by IEAH Stables, and partners, Benny the Bull has rattled off four straight stakes wins, amassed nearly $2 million in career earnings, and he has drawn post eight in the nine-horse field. Post time for the Smile Sprint is slated for 4:54 p.m. ET/1:54 p.m. PT.

The Grade 1, $400,000 Princess Rooney (4:26 p.m. ET/1:26 p.m. PT), which features fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up, is an accompanying feature with multiple Grade 1 winner Dream Rush, along with Looky Yonder and Miraculous Miss, entered in Saturday's seven-horse field. The Smile and Princess Rooney have been designated as "Win and You're In" races for the Breeders' Cup World Thoroughbred Championships at Santa Anita on October 24-25.

The quartet of stakes is rounded out by a pair of graded, $250,000 events for 3-year-olds -- the Grade 2 Carry Back for colts (3:58 p.m. ET/12:58 p.m. PT) and the Grade 3 Azalea for distaffers (3:30 p.m. ET/12:30 p.m. PT). Two $55,000 sprints for 2-year-olds -- the Frank Gomez (colts) and the J J'sdream (fillies) -- spice up the power-packed stakes offering.
