IMA JERSEY GIRL STRUTS HER STUFF IN SATURDAY FEATURE


OCEANPORT, N.J. * Red Oak Stable’s Ima Jersey Girl took control up the backstretch and held her four rivals safe at bay to capture the $46,000 allowance/optional claiming feature at Monmouth Park on Saturday by a length and a half.

Trained by Gregg Sacco and ridden by Chris DeCarlo, Ima Jersey Girl covered the mile and 70 yards over a fast main track in 1:42 4/5 and paid $7.60, $3.60 and $2.20. Emily Allstar, the post-time favorite, rallied to complete the $24 exacta and returned $3 and $2.10. It was another 4 ¼ lengths back to Our Year, who paid $2.40 to show.


Saturday’s win was the fourth in seven starts this year for Ima Jersey Girl, a New Jersey-bred 3-year-old filly by Lightnin N Thunder form the French Deputy mare Ubetwereven.
