INAUGURAL CALIFORNIA SKY STAKES LURES CONTENTIOUS FIELD

ARCADIA, Calif. (Oct. 24, 2009) – Hard-hitting Dance With Gable, in-the-money in 14 of 18 lifetime starts with 7 victories, will be the 123-pound high weight among six entrants Wednesday in Oak Tree’s inaugural $50,000 California Sky Stakes for California-breds at 6 ½ furlongs over Santa Anita’s downhill turf course.

Rafael Bejarano, aboard for the 5-year-old bay gelding’s only previous turf victory in two grass starts, will be reunited with the Dance Floor offspring who was claimed three races back for $40,000 by trainer Mike Machowsky on behalf of Arbitrage Stable and Pro Selection Stable.

The contentious field includes A Lil Dumaani, first or second in 11 of 19 starts with 5 wins; Bestdressed, a close third in Oak Tree’s $100,000 California Cup Sprint Handicap, his last start on Oct. 3, and 4-year-old filly Flashover, second in the $100,000 Cal Cup Distaff Handicap.

The complete field for the California Sky Stakes, with jockeys and weights in post position order: Big Bad Leroybrown, Tyler Baze, 118; Flashover, Joseph Talamo, 117; Bonfante, Joel Rosario, 116; Bestdressed, Alonso Quinonez, 116; A Lil Dumaani, Martin Garcia, 120, and Dance With Gable, Rafael Bejarano, 123.
