INFORMED PROVES TO BE A BARGAIN FOR NEW OWNER

INGLEWOOD, Calif. (Dec. 12, 2008) — Informed, a $500,000 yearling purchase who was claimed for the bargain price of $25,000 earlier this year, scored a 1 1/2-length victory under jockey Aaron Gryder in the $43,000 allowance/claiming feature Friday at Hollywood Park.

Gryder gave Informed a well-timed, ground-saving trip and the 4-year-old son of Tiznow drew clear with ease in the stretch while covering 1 1/16 miles on Cushion Track in 1:41.53.

Informed, owned by a partnership headed by trainer Doug O’Neill, won for the second time in six starts for his new connections. The winner’s share of $25,800 boosted his earnings to $75,920 since the claim from a winning effort here on June 26. Overall, he has won four of 15 starts and $160,160.

Informed paid $7, $4 and $2.60. Gregorian Bay, second under Rafael Bejarano, returned $6.60 and $3.20, while the show payoff on Limestone Edge with Kent Desormeaux aboard was $2.40.

Two earlier upsets helped set up a Pick Six carryover of $85,503 on Saturday. Chantal Sutherland guided Sweetsinginanita ($33) to victory in the fourth race and Martin Garcia connected on Awesome Feat ($34.20) in the sixth race to set up the carryover.
