Jenna’s Wabbit to complete the hat Trix in Deputy Minister?

TORONTO, July 23 – Jenna's Wabbit will seek his third win on the hop in Wednesday's $125,000 Deputy Minister Stakes, at Woodbine.

The dark bay son of Old Forester-In the Buff, trained by Ralph Biamonte and ridden by Eurico Rosa da Silva, enters the seven-furlong 'Poly' tilt off driving scores in the turf Bold Ruckus and main track Achievement Stakes, both contested at six furlongs.

Jenna's Wabbit will be saddled with a field-high 128 pounds in the under-the-stars stake, 11 pounds more than his five rivals. The gelding, who carried 124 pounds last time out, led at every pole in the Achievement, winning by 3 ½ lengths over well-regarded Incredicat, in 1:11.16, after hot early fractions of :22.43, :44.99 and :57.37.

Last year, Jenna’s Wabbit won three races from six starts for owners Danny Lococo and Mary Biamonte (wife of trainer/breeder Ralph Biamonte), including the Frost King Stakes, covering seven furlongs in 1:23.29.

Providing strong opposition in the six-horse field is allowance winner Bear and Rod, a game third-place finisher in the Achievement. The Mike De Paulo trainee boasts a pair of scores sprinting six furlongs from seven lifetime starts, and should appreciate stretching out to seven panels for the first time.

Courtville, trained by Laurie Silvera and ridden by Omar Moreno, turns back significantly in distance after finishing third in the nine-furlong Victoria Park Stakes.

The Victoria Park has proven to be a key event, as the winner, Prospective, returned to win the Grade 3 Ohio Derby. The second-place finisher, Patrioticandproud, came back to win the Toronto Cup.

Allowance winners Soda On the Side and One More Deal, along with recent maiden-breaker Curling Rocks, complete the field.

First post on Wednesday's eight-race card is 6:45 p.m.
