Just 200 Days Until the Next Live Meet Opens at Gulfstream Park

Wednesday, June 17, is the 200-day mark leading up to the Jan. 3 opening of Gulfstream Park’s 2010 live race meeting.

The race meeting will conclude Friday, April 23. Racing will be conducted on a Wednesday through Sunday basis.

Next winter will be a busy winter in Broward and Dade counties. Gulfstream Park is formulating plans to compliment the Feb. 7 Super Bowl, which for the 10th time will be held in Dade County. The 2010 venue will be Dolphin Stadium (aka, until the big game, “LandShark Stadium”) in Miami Gardens.

Ticket cost has traditionally been in the $800-$1,000 neighborhood. Gulfstream Park will certainly be the more affordable option.

Dolphin Stadium will also host the Pro Bowl on Jan. 31. The date of the Pro Bowl, which in past years had been played at Aloha Stadium in Hawaii after the Super Bowl, was moved this year.

In addition to the big games, Cleveland-based developer Forest City says it plans to open its retail properties adjacent to Gulfstream Park either the Thursday before the Super Bowl (Feb. 4) or the Thursday after the Super Bowl (Feb. 11).
