Lite the Cigar Lites Up Friday Feature
NEW ORLEANS (Friday, November 20, 2009) – Heiligbrodt Racing Stable’s Lite the Cigar made or forced the pace throughout Friday’s Fair Grounds grass feature before earning a three-quarter-length score in the prep for the $100,000 Louisiana Champions Day Turf Dec. 12.
Ridden by Jesse Campbell and trained by Jim Hudson, the 4-year-old accredited Louisiana-bred paid $5.40, $3.60 and $2.80 as the choice of the fans and toured the about 1 1/16-mile distance over the firm Stall-Wilson turf course in 1:43.17 after accomplishing early splits of 26.83 and 53.33. He increased his career earnings to $113,157 with his third win in 16 lifetime starts.
Racing resumes Saturday at Fair Grounds with an 11-race program beginning at 12:30 p.m.
