ALBANY -- Live Sundays played “catch me if you can” in the one-mile allowance feature at Golden Gate Fields Sunday and won the game decisively.

Live Sundays was sent to the lead by jockey Russell Baze and the 6-year-old gelding established command over his four rivals while racing the opening half-mile in 24.35 and the half in 48.39.

Positive Response, the 2011 California Derby winner who was making his second start following an 11-month layoff, tried to put some pressure on Live Sundays but never seriously challenged the winner, who scored by 1 1/2 lengths. Northern Causeway finished third.

Shudacudawudya, the even-money favorite, finished fourth and millionaire Delightful Kiss, making his first start since July, finished last.

Live Sundays, trained by Victor Trujillo, completed the mile in 1:38.10 and paid $5.40 as the second choice in the betting. Owned by Stan and Frances Hodge, Live Sundays earned $30,030 for his seventh career victory and has banked $300,560 in 23 lifetime starts.

Baze, who rode four winners on both Thursday and Friday at Golden Gate Fields, finished the racing week with a riding hat trick Sunday. In addition to winning the featured third race with Live Sundays, Baze captured the sixth with Global Gem ($4.40) and the eighth with Sister Kate ($4.20).

Racing will resume at Golden Gate Fields Thursday. Post time is 12:45 p.m.
