OLDSMAR, Fla. (January 11, 2009) Luis Antonio Gonzalez escorted three horses on today’s card, giving him fourteen wins for the 2008-2009 Tampa Bay Downs racing season.

Gonzalez got his first victory in the day’s opener aboard E. F. F. Sher, a three-year-old Eltish filly bred in Florida by William Lauren, conditioned by Jane Cibelli, and owned by Lauren Stable. Gonzalez completed the early Daily Double aboard Bo’s Secret Storm, a five-year-old gelded son of Exploit saddled by Odin Londono, Jr. for owner Jeff Hayes.

Gonzalez rounded out his hat trick in the Cody’s Original Roadhouse Race of the Week on Mitchell Park. Roy Lerman bred, owns and trains the three-year-old Florida-bred Safe in the U.S.A. gelding, who secured his second victory in only three attempts today.

Finish Lines… Tampa Bay Downs will host its second annual Skyway Festival Day on Saturday, January 17. Skyway Festival Day is January’s premier day of three-year-old racing at Tampa Bay Downs, featuring the $75,000 Pasco Stakes for three-year-olds and the $65,000 Gasparilla Stakes for three-year-old fillies. Both races will be contested at seven furlongs over the main track and serve as prep races for February 14’s Festival Preview Day.
