MARYLAND JOCKEY CLUB, MTHA REACH ADW AGREEMENT

BALTIMORE, 04-07-09---The Maryland Jockey Club and the Maryland Thoroughbred Horsemen’s Association (MTHA) have reached comprehensive account wagering agreements with Youbet, XpressBet and TwinSpires. Specific details of the agreements will not be released, but they cover all wagers placed on live races conducted by the Maryland Jockey Club, as well as wagers placed by Maryland residents on out-of-state races.

“I am delighted with these new agreements,” said MTHA President Richard J. Hoffberger. "They are fair, address our joint concerns about the economics of racing and will benefit all parties. We have developed a joint sense of commitment and trust that will enable us to work together positively in the future. I am particularly pleased that these agreements will enhance the distribution of our product."


“We are pleased to have reached a fair settlement on this issue," said Tom Chuckas, president and chief operating officer of the Maryland Jockey Club. "The real winners are the fans, who will be able to enjoy races at both Pimlico and Laurel Park on a multitude of platforms. The ability of Maryland residents to wager on our local product and out-of-town races is paramount to us.”

The Laurel Park winter meeting ends this Saturday, April 11. The Pimlico spring stands begins Saturday, April 18.
