Meadowlands Barn Notes - Tuesday, Nov. 24

FIELD SET FOR MEADOWLANDS FRIDAY FEATURE

A competitive field of multiple stakes winners will assemble for the $65,000 Alysheba Stakes when live racing resumes Friday night at Meadowlands Racetrack.

Encaustic, winner of the $125,000 Mountaineer Mile last out, is rated as the 5-2 morning line favorite from post nine in the 1 1/16-miles Alysheba Stakes. The Mark Shuman trainee has hit the board in nine of 13 starts this season with three victories, including the $75,00 Labor Day at Mountaineer. He was third, beaten only a half-length, in the $70,000 Formal Gold Stakes on Sept. 19 at Monmouth Park. Lifetime, the 5-year-old son of Broad Brush has won seven of 37 starts and $463,385.

The field also includes Kevin Sleeter's homebred Talkin About Love, the lone mare in the nine-horse field. Talkin About Love posted back-to-back stakes wins in September, winning the $85,000 Revidere Stakes over a sloppy track at Monmouth and the $125,000 Maryland Million Ladies in her turf debut at Laurel. She was never a contender in her last start, the Grade 3 Violet Stakes at the Meadowlands.

Sleeter bred, owns and trains the 5-year-old daughter of Not for Love-She's Jane, by Northern Idol. She will break from post four in the Alysheba with Stewart Elliott aboard. Talkin About Love has won nine of 29 career starts and $714,353.

At The Disco, winner of the Bernie Dowd and Lincroft at Monmouth this season, is also among the competitors. The 5-year-old grey makes his first start for trainer Mary Hartmann since finishing sixth after making an early bid in the Grade 3 Cliff Hanger on Oct. 30.
