Trainer Juan Serey has plenty of options with his multiple stakes winner Ponzi Scheme, but one thing is certain according to the conditioner, his next start will be at Monmouth Park.
“I still haven’t decided what race I’ll enter him in next,” said Serey, a 5-time training champion at Monmouth, who is currently tied for second in standings. “There a couple of them that I’m looking at. His next race will definitely be here.”
Winner of the 2011 Skip Away Stakes, Ponzi Scheme returned with a stakes victory on opening day at Monmouth, posting a 12-1 upset in the $75,000 Decathlon. The 5-year-old gelding posted a solid work on Saturday morning, going five furlongs in :59 2/5, the second fastest of 43 at the distance.
