Oceanport, N.J. – Daniel J. Lopez’s Geeky Gorgeous, the lone New Jersey-bred in the field, took command in mid-stretch before drawing off from her competition to capture the $34,000 allowance/optional feature at Monmouth Park on Sunday afternoon by 2 ¾ lengths.

Ridden by Armando Ayuso, Geeky Gorgeous covered the six furlongs over a fast main track in 1:11 1/5 and paid $9.80, $5.20 and $3.60. Celtic Chant completed the $94 exacta and returned $7.80 and $7. It was another 3 ¾ lengths back to Natalie Victoria, who rallied to pay $6.20 to show.

“She’s a nice filly,” said Lopez, who also trains the winner. “In her last two races she’s hit another gear where she doesn’t have to come out of the gate and be six to eight lengths off the pace. She’s got a big heart and the will to win.”

A 3-year-old daughter of Devil His due from the Pure Prize mare Stanford Reunion, Geeky Gorgeous has won four of her six starts at Monmouth Park this summer.

Live racing continues on Saturday, Oct. 6 for the final weekend of racing at the Oceanport racetrack. Gates open at 11:30 a.m., with first post set for 12:45 p.m. Following next Sunday’s live card, Thoroughbred racing shifts to the Meadowlands for racing on Fridays and Saturdays through Nov. 3. First post at the Big M will be 2:15 p.m.

As always, Monmouth Park is open seven days a week for simulcasting from across the country and around the globe. In addition, Bluegrass Miniature Golf, which opened at Monmouth Park on Saturday, will be open seven days a week through Thanksgiving.
