Ninth race accident
Stickney, IL--On a day when Hawthorne Race Course established a new record carryover for its Pick Six, the final race on the card ended with an accident, resulting in three horses not finishing the race, and three jockeys thrown from their respective mounts.
The incident occurred down the backstretch when the first-time starter Big Twister went down, tossing jockey Gabriel Lagunes. Both G. I. Moe with jockey Lyndie Wade in the saddle, and Mister Scott ridden by Jesse Lantz were unable to avoid the fallen horse, and they do were unceremoniously thrown to the ground.
