NYRA NAMES FIVE TO Saratoga Advisory Board

The New York Racing Association, Inc. has filled its five seats on the 15-member Saratoga Race Course Local Advisory Board, a committee established under the terms of NYRA’s renewed 25-year racing franchise. The City of Saratoga Springs and Saratoga County had previously announced their appointees.

Two of the NYRA appointees are well-known local business and civic leaders. Tom Roohan is president of Roohan Realty and active in such civic organizations as The Saratoga County Planning Board, The Downtown Special Assessment District, Saratoga County Chamber of Commerce, City of Saratoga Springs Board of Assessment Review and Concerned Citizens for Saratoga Racing. Joseph A. Torani is a Managing Partner of the management and consulting firm of Bollam Sheedy Torani & Co LLP, CPAs. He is a former member of the NYRA Oversight Board and has held leadership positions in a number of industry and charitable organizations.

The remaining three NYRA appointees are Patrick L. Kehoe, NYRA Senior Vice President & General Counsel; Joanne K. Adams, NYRA Community Relations Manager, and Charles Wheeler, Facilities Manager of the Saratoga Race Course.

“NYRA enjoys a great collaborative relationship with Saratoga County and the City of Saratoga Springs, where I have been a homeowner for more than 20 years,” said NYRA President and CEO Charles Hayward. “With a new 25-year franchise in place, NYRA will be developing exciting new plans to enhance the great Saratoga racing program and to improve the patron experience. The talent assembled on this advisory board will be a great asset to NYRA in achieving our goals for the Saratoga Race Course.”

The NYRA appointees will serve with previously announced board members George “Skip” Carlson, Cindy Hollowood, Michele Funiciello, John Carusone and William Wilmot, DVM, representing Saratoga Springs; and Art Johnson, Matthew Veitch, David Wickerham, Jason Kemper and Kristina Saddlemire representing Saratoga County.
The Saratoga Race Course Local Advisory Board is expected to have its first meeting this spring.
