OCEANPORT, N.J. * Bill and Vicki Poston’s Our Honor wore down the front-running favorite through the stretch and was a neck best at the wire in Friday’s $42,000 allowance feature run over a sloppy track at Monmouth Park.

The winner, trained by Jason Servis and ridden by Elvis Trujillo, raced the six furlongs in 1:09 2/5 and paid $10.40 and $4.20 as third choice in a field of four older horses.

Black Jack Ruler, the even-money favorite who jumped out of the gate on top and tried to lead every step, had to settle for second, returning $2.60 to place and completing the $18 exacta. Township Cat was third, nearly three lengths farther back.

This was the first win of the year in five starts for Our Honor, a 4-year-old colt by Double Honor. It was his third lifetime win in four starts at Monmouth Park, where he won on both dirt and turf last season.

Black Jack Ruler jumped out to the lead for Chuck Lopez and raced through a quarter in :22 1/5 and a half-mile in :44 4/5. Our Honor, unhurried early while last after breaking from the inside post, moved to the outside rounding the turn. In the stretch, he closed resolutely down the center of the track and was along in time.
