Quick Command Sells for $100,000 on Thursday at Keeneland


Lexington, KY (November 13, 2008) – Quick Command, in foal to Bernstein, brought a final bid of $100,000 to highlight Thursday’s session of Keeneland’s November Breeding Stock Sale.

The five-year-old Gold Legend mare is from the family of European champion Katies (IRE). She was purchased by E-Stable and consigned by Belvedere Farm Inc. (Marty Takacs), agent.


Hill ‘n’ Dale Bloodstock paid $70,000 for a weanling filly from the first crop of Congrats out of the Personal Hope mare Saramy. Consigned by Taylor Made Sales Agency, agent, the filly is a half-sister to stakes winner Babaganush.

Seedling, a three-year-old Forestry mare in foal to War Front, also brought a bid of $70,000 from Carlo S.E. Moore, agent. Consigned by Claiborne Farm, agent, the filly is from the family of Kentucky Derby (G1) winner Sea Hero and graded stakes winners Wild Applause, Hero’s Honor and Roar.

On Thursday, Keeneland sold 230 horses for $2,993,700, down 35.2 percent from a year ago when 259 horses brought $4,622,200. Average price for the day of $13,016 decreased 27.1 percent from last year’s comparable session average of $17,846. The median price of $10,000 was down 28.6 percent from the $14,000 posted in 2007.

Through day 11 of the 15-day sale, Keeneland has sold 2,229 horses for $178,869,000, down 46.2 percent from last year’s $332,692,100. The average of $80,246 was down 35.7 percent from the $124,791 recorded in 2007. The median of $31,000 decreased 38 percent from $50,000 last year.

Keeneland’s November Breeding Stock Sale continues through Monday. Sessions begin at 10 a.m. daily.
