RAINBOW 6 CARRYOVER CONTINUES TO GROW
HALLANDALE BEACH, FL – A carryover of $100, 933 will be carried over to Wednesday’s 10-cent Rainbow 6 at Gulfstream Park.
The innovative wager with a 10-cent minimum bet requires a better to correctly select the winners of the last six races on the card. If a bettor happens to be the only winning-ticket holder, he or she wins the whole pool. When there are multiple winning-tickets, they split 60 percent of the day’s pool, while 40 percent is carried over.
Lopez Extends Lead
Paco Lopez rode three winners on Monday’s program to increase his early-season lead in the Jockey Standings. Gulfstream’s defending riding titlist visited the winner’s circle aboard Playing a Joke in the fourth, Marquet Cat in the fifth and No Peace at All in the seventh. All three winners paid $6.80.
Lopez holds a 13-9 lead over John Velazquez, who rode Storm Island ($10.40) in the third.
In the featured eighth race, a five-furlong race moved from the turf to the sloppy main track, Freedom Land ($18) posted a front-running victory by 3-1/2 lengths under jockey Andrew Ramgeet. Sharp Secretary, ridden by Jose Lezcano, finished second, three lengths clear of Myakka and jockey Alan Garcia.
Freedom Land, who had posted victories at Charles Town and Mountaineer Park in her previous to starts, ran five furlongs in 57 3/5 seconds to prevail in the $61,500 allowance.
