Seattle Smooth takes Go For Wand Stakes


Mercedes Stables' Seattle Smooth easily won the $100,000 Go For Wand Stakes at Delaware Park today.

Ridden by Ramon Dominguez, the 3-year-old daughter of Quiet American posted a 7 1/4-length victory and returned $5.00 as the favorite in the field of eight. The Kentucky-bred trained by Anthony Dutrow covered the mile and a sixteenth in 1:42.38 over a fast main track.


My Main Starr, with Carlos Quinones aboard, finished second 3/4-lengths in front of My Heavenly Sign, with Gabriel Saez, in third. Maren's Meadow, with Terry Thompson, finished fourth 8-lengths behind the winner.

Seattle Smooth raised her career mark to three wins from nine starts with earnings of $180,660.
