Sentient Jet Filly & Mare Sprint Notes, Thursday Nov. 5

Evita Argentina – The chestnut 3yo by Candy Ride was out for a 1 1/4m gallop shortly after 8 a.m. Thursday, putting a finishing touch on preparations for her run Friday in the Sentient Jet Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Sprint on Friday’s card at Santa Anita.

The very last part of the equation will be some paddock schooling with the horses for Thursday’s race 4.

“She’s a go,” trainer John Sadler said. “She’s as ready as she’s going to be. We’ll just hope for some good luck.”

Evita Argentina will break from post 6 in the nine-horse field, which includes defending Filly & Mare Sprint winner Ventura.

In six starts in 2009, Evita Argentina’s best efforts have come in a pair of Graded stakes scores, including a tally July 18 in Hollywood Park’s A Gleam Handicap in which she defeated older runners with her big, late run.

Free Flying Soul - The 4yo filly walked trainer Bruce Headley’s barn Thursday following a 3f blowout on Wednesday, her final serious preparation for Friday’s Filly & Mare Sprint.

Headley said the race plan calls for Free Flying Soul to go for the lead, or at least prompt the pace.

Game Face – A model of consistency, the daughter of Menifee galloped a little more than a mile Thursday in preparation for the Filly & Mare Sprint. Game Face has made 16 career starts, winning eight times, and is 2-for-3 at the 7f distance of the race.

“She’s just as consistent as they come,” said trainer Todd Pletcher, who gave her a first look over a synthetic track in her most recent start. “It wasn’t her best race (fourth in the Presque Isle Downs Master), but she’s doing well here.”

Edgar Prado, who has been aboard Game Face in each of her last three starts, will have the mount Friday.

Informed Decision – Trainer Jonathan Sheppard sent Informed Decision to the Santa Anita main track for a 1 1/4m gallop under Barry Wiseman Thursday morning. The gray daughter of Monarchos is listed second behind defending champion Ventura in the morning line for the Filly & Mare Sprint.

Informed Decision has won 10 of 13 starts. Her only out-of-the money finish came in a mile stakes at Gulfstream last year in her only race beyond seven furlongs.

“She’s just a genuinely fast horse; she’s on the engine,” the Hall of Fame trainer said. “She’s bred to run longer, but I’m not sure her running style would lend to that, because she’d probably use herself up a little too early. But there’s a possibility, if she stays in training another year, we might try her at a longer distance.”

Informed Decision will be ridden by Julien Leparoux.

Only Green – Trainer Freddie Head sent the 3yo Green Desert filly to the main track with stablemate Goldikova Thursday morning.

After serving as a pacesetter for Goldikova in a pair of mile races, Only Green picked up her third career victory on Oct. 15 in a 7f listed stake (Prix de Saint-Cyr) at Chantilly. Only Green broke her maiden at 71/2f on a synthetic surface on at Deauville Mar. 20.

Olivier Peslier, who has ridden the filly five times, will be in the irons on Friday.

Sara Louise/ Seventh Street - Sara Louise and Seventh Street both galloped the morning before their big test in Friday’s Filly & Mare Sprint.

“It’s a very tough race but the fillies are doing good,” said trainer Saeed bin Suroor, who arrived at Santa Anita Wednesday afternoon and watched his horses gallop for Godolphin Stable. “We’ll give them a chance in there and see what happens.”

Silver Swallow – The 5yo daughter of Alphabet Soup took an easy 7f gallop Thursday morning for trainer Bruce Headley as the veteran trainer prepared the filly for the Filly & Mare Sprint.

Headley expects the gray mare to be a stalker in the race, and then make a late run at the leaders.

Ventura – The Juddmonte Farms 5yo homebred mare galloped once around the main track under exercise rider Salvador Martinez as she prepared to defend her crown in the Filly & Mare Sprint.
