SHUDACUDAWUDYA EDGES CARDIFFBYTHESEA IN FAMILY FEUD
ALBANY -- In horse racing’s version of The Family Feud, Shudacudawudya
edged his promising stablemate, Cardiffbythesea, by a half-length in the $40,382 allowance feature at Golden Gate Fields Monday.
Shudacudawudya and Cardiffbythesea are both trained by Lloyd Mason, who owns Cardiffbythesea and conditions Shudacudawudya for his son, Brett, a horse owner and farrier. Brett’s Shudacudawudya handed Lloyd’s Cardiffbythesea his first lost as the
4-year-old gelding went into the race 3-for-3.
Shudacudawudya was coming off a victory in the Jess Jackson Owners’ Handicap at Santa Rosa and was the even-money favorite in the Labor Day feature. Shudacudawudya paid $4.00 after collecting his ninth victory in 18 starts.
Shudacudawudya, a 5-year-old gelding by Marino Marini, was bred in California by Brett Mason. A multiple stakes-winner, Shudacudawudya earned $26,760 Monday and has made $314,569 in his 18 trips to the starting gate.
