Silver Partner Threads Needle To Win Kattegat’s Pride Starter
BALTIMORE –05-20-11---Owner-trainer John E. Salzman Jr.’s Silver Partner slipped through a narrow gap between horses at the top of the stretch and drove to victory in the $25,000 Kattegat’s Pride Starter Handicap.
Under jockey Ramon Dominguez, the daughter of Partner’s Hero reached the finish line two lengths ahead of Universal Language, with long shot Lady Outflanker finishing third. Silver Partner completed the 1 1/16 miles in 1:46.84 and paid $6.20.
John Saltzman Jr. (winning owner/trainer, Silver Partner) – “I thought I had a good shot here. I was happy with the move from turf to dirt and having Ramon Dominguez helped. He’s one of the best riders in the country. I still want to try the turf with her. With the wet spring, she’s never really had a shot here, but we’re very pleased with her race today.
Ramon Dominguez (winning jockey, Silver Partner) – “I was stuck down on the inside, fourth, but on the heels of the two leaders. The rail opened and I came through on the inside. It worked all well.”
