TALE OF PEACE DIGS DOWN FOR SUNDAY SCORE
Oceanport, N.J. – Hardacre Farm LLC’s Tale of Peace held off all challengers to capture the $32,000 allowance/optional claiming feature at Monmouth Park on Sunday by a neck.
Ridden by Chris DeCarlo, Tale of Peace, took the lead around the first turn, was overtaken on the backstretch, retook command turning for home and then held off the late charge of Falbala to stop the timer in 1:42 flat for a mile and 70 yards over a fast main track. The winner returned $7.20, $3.40 and $2.80 and topped the $31.60 exacta. Falbala paid $4 and $3.60. It was 3 ¾ lengths back to Carolina Princess, who paid $6.80 to show.
A 3-year-old filly by Peace Rules from the Tale of the Cat mare Aerocat, Tale of Peace earned her second win in six starts by taking the Sunday feature.
Live racing continues at Monmouth Park on Saturday, Sept. 15 – gates open 11:30 a.m., first post 12:45 p.m. Saturday marks the 10th anniversary of the New Jersey Thoroughbred Festival, celebrating the best-of-the-best runners bred in the Garden State.
