ARCADIA, Calif. (April 15, 2009)—With the clock running and taxes due by midnight, no one correctly tabbed six winners in Santa Anita’s popular Pick Six wager on Wednesday, resulting in a carryover of $94,872 into Thursday and the likelihood of a total pool of more than $500,000.

The Pick Six began in race three, which was taken by Laser Point, returning $11.80 with Tyler Baze aboard. The 3-year-old California-bred gelding by Lasersport is trained by Jeff Mullins and is owned by Thane Marshall.

Asian Eyes, with Rafael Bejarano up, took the fourth and paid $9.20 to win. Trained by Peter Eurton, the 5-year-old California-bred mare by Pembroke is owned by Marc C. Ferrell.

Wednesday’s fifth, at one mile on grass, went to Colgan’s Chip and Tyler Baze, returning $9.40 to win. This was Baze’s third win of the day and his sixth in the last two days of racing. Colgan’s Chip is owned by Green Lantern Stables and is trained by Jenine Sahadi.

Race six was won by High Stakes Player under Brice Blanc, for owners David and Holly Wilson. High Stakes Player paid $55.00 to win and the 4-year-old Virginia-bred colt is trained by Vladimir Cerin.

The seventh, at 1 1/8 miles on turf, went to Cat by the Tale, returning $25.40 to win. Owned by Raymond Keogh, the 4-year-old Kentucky-bred filly is trained by Neil Drysdale.

The eighth race was taken by Wada Falls, with Joe Talamo up and payed $7.80 to win. The 3-year-old Florida-bred filly by Skip to the Stone is owned and trained by Jeff Mullins.

Wednesday’s carryover is the 27th from 80 days of racing. Thursday’s Pick Six will cover races three through eight.

First post time on Wednesday is 1 p.m. Santa Anita’s 84-day meet will conclude on Sunday.
