ALBANY -- Steve Specht enjoyed a thrill experienced by very few trainers Sunday when he watched his horses dead-heat for the win in the sixth race at Golden Gate Fields.

The rare same-trainer dead-heat occurred in the $38,700 allowance feature, a 1 1/16-mile test for fillies and mares in which Specht's two entrants, Shes a Lucky Wager and Lady Railrider, couldn't be separated at the wire.

Shes a Lucky Wager, who was last in the field of 10 through the opening half-mile, and Lady Railrider, who raced in fourth through most of the race, both rallied strongly down the stretch to earn a share of the victory.

"I've dead-heated before, but not with myself," said Specht. "I just wish I hadn't sat on my hands. I thought about playing an exacta with them but I didn't do it."

Shes a Lucky Wager, ridden by Luis Martinez, paid $14.80 to win while Lady Railrider, with Frank Alvarado aboard, returned $5.00. The $1 exacta of Shes a Lucky Wager to Lady Railrider paid $37.10. The Lady Railrider-Shes a Lucky Wager exacta paid $25.00.

The victories were Nos. 12 and 13 at the Fall meeting for Specht, who ranks sixth in the trainer standings.

Racing resumes at Golden Gate Fields Wednesday. Post time is 12:45 p.m. and there is a carryover of $12,659 in the Pick Six.
