ALBANY -- A trio of horses based at Golden Gate Fields will compete Saturday in the seventh annual Sunshine Millions, an event in which California-breds and Florida-breds compete in rich stakes races run at Santa Anita and Gulfstream Park.

The $3.6 million Sunshine Millions program features the following races: $1 million Classic (at Gulfstream Park), $500,000 Turf (Santa Anita), $500,000 Filly and Mare Turf (Gulfstream Park), $500,000 Distaff (Santa Anita), $300,000 Filly and Mare Sprint (Gulfstream Park), $300,000 Sprint (Santa Anita), $250,000 Dash (Gulfstream Park), and $250,000 Oaks (Santa Anita).

Representing Golden Gate Fields will be Wild Promises and High Resolve from the Greg Gilchrist barn and Lady Railrider from the Steve Specht stable. Will Promises will run in the Filly and Mare Turf, High Resolve in the Filly and Mare Sprint, and Lady Railrider in the Distaff.

Wild Promises will start from post position two and face seven rivals in the 1 1/8-mile Filly and Mare Turf. Owned by the Estate of Harry J. Aleo, Wild Promises has won 11 of her 16 career races and goes into the Sunshine Millions with a five-race (all stakes) winning streak.

High Resolve will break from post position one in the six-furlong Filly and Mare Sprint, which attracted a field of 12. Also owned by the Estate of Aleo, High Resolve is a multiple stakes-winner who has six wins, two seconds and a third in nine lifetime starts.

Lady Railrider, one of 13 entrants in the 1 1/16-mile Distaff, drew post position five. Owned and bred by Mr. and Mrs. Larry D. Williams, Lady Railrider is coming off a two-length victory in the Pacific Heights Stakes at Golden Gate Fields on Dec. 6.

Golden Gate Fields will simulcast all the Sunshine Millions races and present a 10-race card of its own. Post time for the first local event is noon. Santa Anita will start its card at 11:45 a.m.
