UNCLE MO A SOLID FAVORITE WITH ONE DAY TO GO IN DERBY FUTURES


LOUISVILLE, Ky. (Saturday, April 2, 2011) – Fans of unbeaten 2-year-old champion Uncle Mo (#22) showed their support for the early favorite for the Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (Grade I) at the betting windows on Saturday and the Todd Pletcher-trained colt finished the day as a solid 5-2 favorite with one day to go in the third and final pool of Churchill Downs’ 2011 Kentucky Derby Future Wager (“KDFW”).

Repole Stable’s Uncle Mo, the 3-1 choice following Friday’s opening session of the three-day pool, ended Saturday as a solid favorite over the Mutuel Field (#24), which includes all 3-year-olds other than the 22 individual betting interests in Pool 3 and ended the day as the 6-1 second choice.. Also attracting strong support through Saturday’s betting were Rebel (GIII) winner The Factor (#19) at 8-1, Holy Bull (GIII) winner Dialed In (#6) at 10-1, San Felipe (GII) winner Premier Pegasus (#14-1) at 13-1, Remsen (GII) winner To Honor and Serve (#20) at 14-1 and Fountain of Youth (GII) winner Soldat (#17) at 15-1.


Kentucky Derby fans wagered $112,257 on Saturday to raise the two-betting total for the pool to $178,159. That includes $129,288 in win betting and $48,871 in exacta wagers.

Wagering on Sunday’s final session of Kentucky Derby Future Wager Pool 3 will resume at noon (all times Eastern) on Sunday, April 3 at racetracks and off-track betting centers, and through TwinSpires.com and other advance deposit wagering platforms. Betting on the pool is scheduled to close at 6 p.m. The 137th running of the Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (GI) will be run on Saturday, May 7 at Churchill Downs.

The Kentucky Derby Future Wager provides fans with opportunities to wager on potential contenders for the famed “Run for the Roses” at odds that could be much more attractive than those available on the day of America’s greatest race. It offers win and exacta wagering, and all bets are $2 minimum wagers, and there are no scratches or refunds on any KDFW wager. If it is determined during any KDFW pool that an individual horse has suffered an illness, injury or other circumstance that would prevent the horse from competing in Kentucky Derby, wagering on that interest will be suspended immediately.

Sunday’s final day of Kentucky Derby Future betting for 2011 figures to feel the impact of the results of the $1 million Florida Derby (GI) at Gulfstream Park. The 1 1/8 mile race has four KDFW Pool 3 betting interests in its field: Soldat, Dialed In, to Honor and Serve and Stay Thirsty (#18).

Post time for the Florida Derby is scheduled for 5:42 p.m. Given the proximity of that post time to the scheduled 6 p.m. closing of KDFW Pool 3, Churchill Downs officials will closely monitor the time that the Florida Derby results are ruled “official” by stewards to determine whether additional time should be added to the pool.
