UNDEFEATED ZENYATTA WORKS FIVE FURLONGS IN 1:02 3/5
INGLEWOOD, Calif. (Oct. 14, 2010)—Zenyatta, who has won all 19 of her starts, worked five furlongs in 1:02 3/5 Thursday morning over the Cushion Track at Hollywood Park.
The drill, which occurred with stablemate El Vino, was the first for the brilliant 6-year-old mare since her third consecutive victory in the Lady’s Secret Stakes on Oct. 2 during opening weekend of the inaugural Oak Tree at Hollywood Park meet.
According to Hollywood Park clocker and morning line maker Russ Hudak, Zenyatta was timed in 13 4/5 seconds for the first eighth of a mile, 25 4/5 for the half mile, 38 2/5 for three furlongs, meaning she completed the last quarter of a mile in 24 1/5 seconds. She galloped out six furlongs in 1:16 2/5.
